LIMB-O

Summer Sessions

During the summer months of 2020, my graduation work, LIMB-O, was developed at V2 Lab_for_Unstable_Media, as part of the Summer Sessions residency.

Together with the V2 crew and my residency-mates, I was able to explore my concept and manifest it as a (mostly) working piece. LIMB-O was created in two worlds, the digital and physical. Yet it exists in more spaces - the physical installation, the body, the digital interface, and the continuous flow of data between these actants. The exploration began when I started asking myself "where do I go, where does my energy go - if it travels through a screen?". Newton's 3rd Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred or transformed. If I use my energy to throw a stone, I can see that the stone ends up somewhere else. But if I express, create, connect via digital media - I am still spending energy, so where does it go?

LIMB-O is an ongoing exploration into the inbetween space of physical and digital worlds. The limbo. The negative space, the things we don't see which influence the ones we do.
